My Local Day

I just posted this on my own blog...and thought I'd keep it here as well.
---
I (literally) flew out of bed today at 11:10 a.m. I have Such a Hard Time getting to Farmers Market by noon every Saturday. In my wish-ful thinking Life I am up at 8 a.m. with the Coffee Maker brewing Kenyan AA and the homemade bread is already in the oven as I ready myself to be at Market by 9 a.m.

In real life I went to bed at 1 a.m. last night after getting home from a bon-fire and scrubbing poison (DEET) off when I returned home. By the time I was in bed the sprinkler's outside my window were working, or rather, they are Mutants who sputter and hiss until I think I will go crazy from listening to it. By now it's 2 a.m. when I give way to slumber.... Hence, waking at 11:10 a.m., throwing off the covers, brewing a quick cup of Joe and leaving the house with breakfast in hand. I made it to Farmers Market by 12:15, thank you very much.

I bought my new favorite cheese: Apolocheese by Grassfields Farms. And I bought yellow zucchini, leafy greens...and cherries. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that although I purchased the cherries I did not take them with me. Bah. I hope they'll let me have 'em on Wednesday when I return.

From there I went to the Library and tried to re-new my books. I couldn't renew them but that's alright I'll go buy it with a gift-card I've been saving. I'm currently reading, "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan and he is now my most bestest friend. For Serious. I'm going to give Everyone this book for Christmas and ya'll owe me a book report by Spring Break. Although I struck out with the books I did check out a movie (for $1) "Elizabeth" which I will probably watch tonight. I felt good being local and thrifty.

I stopped by Deb's house but she was out and about. No hugs from Grace today.

Finally I meandered over to Meijer. And here is where My Fun continued. A few things you should know first: I am thrifty, I am trying to buy local, I am trying to eat Real Food with no additives, preservatives and less than 5 ingredients. I need to add a few things to my kitchen to help me along. I have a cheap POS blender that is really just for show at this point. I can probably blend Kool-Aid in it and not much else. Making hummus is a chore. Instead of buying a new one for $80 I bought a Kitchen-Aid food chopper which was 25% off! And it's RED. I will make hummus and pesto and magic in my new RED chopper.

I bought real pasta, not imitation. I bought everything to make my own bread, and Gluten-Free dressing for Debra.

Upon my return home I picked my first round of green beans from my Container Garden which joined My First Vegetable, the Yellow Summer Squash.

This is my Local Life and my Local Journey. I Love Every Moment.

(I took pics of all of these things but my email is behind, again. I will post them when I get them.)
